The default location may be your download folder. Check there! Mine is personally in a folder called "Data" that I created myself.
But go ahead and search for ".tde" or ".tds" in your start menu (assuming windows) and then you can find them
C:\Users\<user name>\Documents\My Tableau Repository\Datasources

This thread was from 2 years ago, I guess it would've been better for you to just post another question.
However: once you save the workbook, the extract location is changed based on where you told Tableau to save the .hyper file. You can always check it in the extract properties.
