Hi mark welsh,
Deadlock occurs when any two SQL server process IDs are locking a seperate resource and each one of them is trying to access the resource locked by the other process.
Is auto-commit ON?
set implict_transactions on
Thanks for the info. I don't have admin over our Server instance, so I don't know if auto-commit is on. What will enabling that do?
Might want to try this from the Tableau Side, too (or perhaps you already have?)
Specify whether to Read uncommitted data. This option sets the database isolation level to Read Uncommitted. Long queries from Tableau, including extract refreshes, can lock the database and delay transactions. Select this option to allow queries to read rows that have been modified by other transactions even when they have not been committed yet. When this option is cleared, Tableau uses the default isolation level specified by the database.
And more discussion around read uncommitted:
Interesting. I'll talk this over with our database folks.
