# Total Using Option Not Working

I am trying to have one of my column's subtotal SUM everything, but the option is greyed out. I believe this is due to the Measure Value being a table calculation. I can't share my workbook due to sensitivity of our client's data, but any help would be appreciated.

The Measure Value calculation looks like this, where "Weight" is a proportion of total.

Weight:

Weighted PTG:

After using in column and trying to SUM the subtotal, I get this:

Thank you.

Two pass totals (the Total Using) aren't supported for table calculations or calculations using fields from multiple sources. TOTAL() is a table calculation. You can change the TOTAL() into a Level of Detail (LOD) expression, without knowing what dimension(s) are in the view and the compute using of the table calculation and what your are subtotaling on I can't tell you exactly what LOD expression formula to use. In general I'd use something like:

SUM([Spend])/AVG({EXCLUDE [put dimensions used for the TOTAL() compute using here] : SUM([Spend])})

However without seeing how the subtotals are computed I can't be completely sure.

Hi Jonathan,

Thanks for the reply. I've added a packaged workbook with dummy data to see if this explains the problem better.

I am trying to have the Weighted PTG be a sum, but as you can see I am not able to SUM in the grand total. Is there a work around for this?

Thanks again.

In the attached I used an EXCLUDE calc as I'd described above, and then because it's an LOD expression instead of a table calculation I was able to do Total Using SUM:

v10.1 workbook is attached, let me know if you have any questions!
