# How to create a sheet with descriptive statistics, matrix for multiple values?

Hello Tableau world!

I need help from you guys to make a descriptive statistics (Mean, Median, SD, etc) as a matrix. I know how to create mean, median, etc, but I want to create a crosstab for 20 columns with respective stats. Ex:

Variable     Mean     Median     SD     etc.....

X               M1          Me1      SD1

Y               M2          Me2      SD2

Z

.

Can someone help me.

Thanks

Hi Sujita,

Not sure what you are aiming for. Could you elaborate?

I want to create a descriptive statistic matrix for 27 variables out 50. In the picture you can see that my first column has variable names and the second column has values (Sum). I want  mean, median, percentile for each respective variable row. When I'm trying to create other descriptive variables like mean of 27 variables, all of them are appended to the present list instead of merging to form a new variable with values.

Sujith,

Something like this......and could I have a "peak" how your data is structured?

It sounds like the data may need to be pivoted.  So rather than having a separate column for each variable's value you would have two columns, one to hold the variable name and another to hold the variable's value:

VariableValue
ASC23
Cardiology Services2775
Pharmacy12270

You can then create a view with [Variable] on Rows, [Measure Names] on Columns, and [Measure Values] on Text, then place whichever aggregations of [Value] you want into the Measure Values card.

Hope that helps!
