Good morning - see the Mapping Training module - there is an example on calculating distances - see the Measure for Latitude 0 etc. The module can be found at:
Live Training Resources | Tableau Software on the Tableau site
Let me know it that works

In the Mapping Training module workbook, the Latitude and Longitude values are included in the data source and are different from the generated Latitude and Longitude fields.
Because Latitude and Longitude are fields in the US Cities data source they can be used in calculated fields to find distance. As Łukasz mentions it is not currently possible to used the generated Latitude and Longitude fields in calculations.
Sarah, you are right. This was actually my workaround earlier but it will not work for my new project - I would export generated latitude and longitude from tableau to excel and re-import them as part of data source. Only then I could perform my distance calculations.
I wish we could store those somehow like creating Latitude parameter by doing something simple like ZipCode.Latitude(generated) - easier said than done.
Thanks for the clarification
