This is something I've come across a lot. If you end up placing this sheet on to a dashboard there's a clever way of hiding a sheet containing text "0" behind it that will display in case the data range selected is not relevant. This way, the end user will see the "0" rather than nothing (blank). Jewel Loree has a great post on how to make this happen (link below).
If this is purely for exploratory purposes and will not be displayed on a dashboard perhaps just change the "Balance" measure into a dimension and display the filter that way - then, you'll only see those relevant values pertaining to your data set (image below). Or, although I'm not sure of the details regarding the data set, you can create bins that might help organize your data as the data set grows.
