I don't see any update in attached file. Could you please re-check and attach once again
I was able to get pretty close to the desired output.
First, I created two fields to get the MIN and MAX of the data range selected:
Then I added them to the Detail, and changed to "Exact Date" and "Discrete":
I then changed the "Date" filter on Sheet 1 and Added to Context:
Lastly, edit the Title to include the two calculated fields:
The only caveat is that if you have a date range selected, the values will only show the min and max dates if data is present. So, for example, if you select a date range from Dec. 17-Dec. 31, but there is only date for Dec.19-Dec. 30, the Title will show the latter. This is caused by adding the filter to Context. Other than that, this is one alternative you could use.

Thank you for provided solution. Unfortunately customer wants to see exactly the same dates as in Quick filter. Is it somehow possible to catch it?
The only alternative I can think of would be to set up two parameters for your starting date and ending date, then add the parameter values to the Title.
The downside to this option is that the filters won't be as "user friendly" as the quick-filter. In other words, you would have to manually set both dates to get a 2 year date range, versus clicking one button for "Last 2 years".
What do you think?
Yes, I was also thinking about parameters but it will add one more filter box and it will change functionality of the dashboard.
Maybe I will not show this date filter in caption to not make users confused. Hope that this functionality will be added in new versions of Tableau
I do have similar issue...
As 2017 year is not completed yet.. how can i show the value from the below scenarios..
1. As today=3/20/2017 and sysdate(3/20/2017), date range should be displayed as 1/1/2017 to 3/20/2017
2. As today=3/20/2017 and data(from DB i.e. 2/27/2017), date range should be displayed as 1/1/2017 to 2/27/2017.
Can we achieve this?
