Does indexing SQL tables help with Extract Performace & Blending?

    Jonathan Bertscher

I did a Google search but couldn't find an answer for this.

I know that indexing my SQL tables will allow for faster extract creation and calculations when using a live data source. But can indexing also improve performance of joins, filters, and calculations of extracts once they are created?

Also, will they help with the performance of blends?

          Here we have 2 Scenario.

          Case 1 : Live Connection

Absolutely yes, It will improve performance of SQL queries.

          Case 2 : Extract

There is no impact on extract file, Because tableau store data in his own format.

Tableau has nothing to do with table till the time tableau fetching data from extract.

However but we can’t  ignore Index because while refreshing data extract it matter a lot.

Extract refresh is much more faster than compare to without index table.
