It's really depends, quite difficult to say can/cannot.
What exact data do you have in excel ? Or can you add your excel file itself as example?
Without looking your data, i made up 3 cvs files that has sales date on file name and union them all to get table name which you can use to convert it to date field:
Depending on what type of date type you have you may have to change formula to convert it to date:

Thank you. this is exactly what I want ... i'm not able to open you file though . I'm using 9.1 tableau and files seems to be created on higher version .I have one query
where did you get table name? is it within your source file or you creating it?
Yes, I have 10.0 version. But, still see my steps below.
Once you connect one file, then you can select other files and drag them to first connection where it will give you union option and done as seen below:
All your files should be csv format so you can union them all. Then Tableau will created Table Name for you automatically. See pics below.

I don't think in 9.1 we have union functionality. correct me if i'm wrong. I am a newbie to tableau. please guide me .
Union is only available on 9.3 or newer.
