# Applying a dimention filter to a specific date rang in a view...

Hello,

I am looking to apply "Assigned name"(a dimension) filter to my view but I don't want it to apply to the entire timeframe on my graph but only on last few months?  This is due to a change how the monthly volume is calculated as it changed as of September 2016 on my data set.  I want to apply the filter to only to Sep 2016 onwards to get accurate monthly volume.

Please let me know if you have any question about my question!

Thank you,

Find my approach as reference below and stored in attached workbook version 9.3

Here is my approach.

Change the Value formula.

[Value with Date criteria]

sum(if [Date]< date("2016/9/1") then {fixed[Date]:sum( [Value])} else [Value] end)

Thanks,

Shin

Thank you Shin!  I appreciate the time!

The only problem I have now is when I filter out the AAA 'assigned name' it takes it out from the entire view than only subtracting it from anything after 09/01/2016.  How can I adjust this filter to only apply to dates after 09/01?

The view should look something like this after I exclude AAA assigned name:

OK, that's opposite.

I need to create something before 9/1, then I put " ALL" instead of A,B,C,D.

To exclude "A", You still need to check " ALL" in addition to B,C,D.

[Assigned Name 2]

if [Date]>=date("2016/9/1") then [Assgined Name] else " All" end

Thanks,

Shin

Sorry, got side tracked with other stuff - I just tried this and it worked!!!  I see that I end up with two options for "All"  I had to choose the one that refers to the calculated field.

Thank you Shin!  I appreciate your time!
