Thanks Norbert Maijoor and Shinichiro Murakami. I want to be able to show the discrete sum of sales for the period between the start and end dates the user selected. In the attached workbook on the Trend Graph worksheet, I have a lookup that helps with a rolling 12 month calculation. I want to be able to add the last 12 month value (so for the sub-category of accessories it would be $41,896) in between the sub-category and Sum(sales) pill on the rows shelf. I took a stab at this using the calculated field Sales Last 12 Month Period, but when I drop it in, it creates multiple rows.

I have not investigated the root cause yet, but LOD calculation is not getting along with table calculation sometimes.
Instead, you can use windows calc.
[Sales last 12 V2]
window_sum(sum(if [Order Date]>=[Start Date] and [Order Date]<=[End Date] then [Sales] end))
