    The Mysterious Disappearance of Data

    Anlin Tu

Hello, I have been learning from Tableau Community for a long time, but this is the first time to ask a question.

Recently, when I connected an excel file to my Tableau Workbook, I found some data missing. 屏幕快照 2016-10-25 下午2.00.07.png

As you can see in this Screenshot, There is an entry 251 in the excel file on the left, but when I checked the data source in Tableau on the right, 251 was missing.

The entry 251 was not a special case, it's a sample of all the missing entries. My excel file has 24659 rows in total, but as you can see in the picture below, Tableau is only counting 24254 rows.

But when I checked the field description, it is said to have 24659 rows.

I did more experiments on this. For example, I used a filter to compare the entry 249 and 251.

Ok, here Tableau said there are 2 records, and that's true. But when I right clicked to view data, here was what showed up:

It gave me only 1 row, and the entry 251 was still missing.

I am really confused now. Could anyone help?
