Does Tableau limit incoming data from ODBC connection?

      Hi All,

I have an ODBC connection between Tableau and ServiceNow. My database view in ServiceNow shows over 30,000 records. I'm told that ODBC connection doesn't limit data going out. However, when I connect from Tableau, I'm only getting 10,000 records. Further, I'm getting an apparently random 10,000 records. It's not pulling the most recent 10,000, it's giving me some records from each day in the data set.

On the other hand, I have a connection to Microsoft SQL Server, and it's pulling in 70,000+ records with no problems.

Does Tableau limit the number of records coming in from an ODBC connection? What am I missing!?!

      Thanks,

      Chrissy

          Hi again,

I thought I'd post the answer in case anyone else runs into this. The issue was actually a ServiceNow setting. ODBC, by default, does not limit data. However, in ServiceNow, there's a limit that's specific to Database Views. To get around the limit, you add a new property called glide.db.max_view_records and use that to set a new limit.

Hope that helps someone out there.

          Thanks,

          Chrissy
