For the Excel datasource to be automatically updated AND embedded on a website, Tableau Server or Tableau Online would need to be used. The Workbook would need to be published to Tableau Server/Online using a UNC path and then set up a refresh schedule and then put it on your website using the Embed function of the Share button. If the data can be manually updated (through republishing of a workbook/datasource) Tableau Public can be used but there is no scheduling functionality and the data is open to everyone on the Internet.

Thank you Nathan! It works.
