it's been a few years since I deployed our sharepoint solution with embedded webparts. But here is stuff I recall to look out for:
1. Are you using the Tableau embedded webpart? Embed Views into SharePoint (Microsoft SSPI)
2. Is your prod and dev environments in the same domain? There may be authentication issues if they are not
3. To get around #2 for us, we used trusted authentication which meant that the Sharepoint server needed to be whitelisted to wgserver.trusted_hosts
4. What TS release are you on? I wonder if something is going on with rendering content with newer releases of Tableau.
Try one of the following that might help from when i've seen this error in the past.
Use an alternative browser (Chrome or Firefox) or enable 'Enterprise Mode' in Internet Explorer:
Rewrite the portal-website to allow the use of document mode 8 or higher. This is usually done by specifying it in the <!doctype> tag (see https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc288325(v=vs.85).aspx and https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj676915(v=vs.85).aspx)
I didn't have the webpart set up, which is a very complex process thanks to SharePoint's restrictions on network access, so I've put this part of the project on hold until further notice. Thanks for the direction to the embedding info, I was able to find detailed instructions on sharepoint integration in the tableau program files directory on the tableau server.
