John Mark Dadulo Oct 11, 2016 7:25 AM (in response to John Mark Dadulo)If anyone else experiences the same issues, the below suggestions from Tableau worked.
Your case #02427092 has been updated. The new comment is:
Hi John!
Thank you for contacting Tableau Technical Support and for taking my call earlier.
This email is regarding labels being missing, views appearing black and Tableau sometimes stopping unexpectedly.
As a preliminary troubleshooting step, attempt to disable accelerated graphics:
Disable accelerated graphics:
1. In Tableau Desktop, select Help > Settings and Performance > Enable Accelerated Graphics. Deselect this option.
2. Close and re-open Tableau Desktop, and view the workbook to see if the issue has been resolved.
Another preliminary troubleshooting step is to edit the hosts file on the Mac to include your computer's local network name at the end of the "127.0.0.1 localhost" line.
Please see the following article for detailed information on this:

6. Re: Tableau Issues with MacOS Sierra
Sedat Kestepe Jan 31, 2018 6:03 AM (in response to John Mark Dadulo)Hello John Mark Dadulo,
We have the same problem with 10.5, MacOS Sierra
Some of the team have quit problem as they want to use menu File > Save as.
All users except one who use El Capitan gets their second Tableau Desktop window as they want to open it using menu File > New
We have tried applying both methods which tech support suggested to you:
- Accelerated graphics change did not work for us (some users does not even have the menu item).
- Completing /etc/hosts file localhost entry worked for users which have it when using menu File > Save as
Are you still living the issue or is it fixed for you?
