# Side by side chart with a line graph

Hi,

I am trying to show 3 measures in a single graph by using  a combination of Bar and Line.  I have 3 different measure- Three days or more, Two Days or Less-- which I want to show as side by side bars and the third measure

Percent Two days request -- which I want to show as a line.  I am able to show the two measures as bars but "Percent Two Days request"  appear as single dots in the graph and not as a line.

I have posted a packaged workbook.

Any leads to this  would be greatly appreciated !

Thanks!

Hi Veronica,

Thanks for the viz. I want to show the measures as a side by side bar and then the percent to be a line graph.  i have done it as a stacked bar but was wondering if there is a way to represent them as side by side bars because that's what my requirement is.

Thanks !

He Semanti,

So far I am aware the only way to bring in 3 measures is bij combing 1 or more lines with one bar as depicted below

Hope it helps...

Yes, Norbert , I think so too. I won't be able to show side by side bars along with lines. Because for side by side bars I am using a discrete date pill. If I turn it to be a continuous one then i get the line but not the bars being side by side.

So I think I would rather go with a stacked bar and line- which is much more simpler to create.

I think one of the reasons tableau does not allow a line graph to be added to bar chart with more than one bar is due to the confusion that will arise when placing the point within the column. When there is only one bar, the point could be placed at the center (x-axis center) of the column and line could be drawn connecting these points. But when there is more than one bar there is no good way to place the point. Placing the point as a separate column (like you have now) looks like the only good way and drawing a line between them does not seem to be the best interpretation of the data.

This is just my thought on the issue. Please feel free to let me know if this is a wrong interpretation.
