It is "What You See Is What You Get" concept in case of version 9.
It depends on what you do further with that data. In version 10, if it is labeled as string and displayed in scientific notation, are you still able to manipulate and use it?
I can’t use the output as it and I can’t get the original string from the output. Take my example, where the string is “123E0567” and the output is “1.23E569”. I don’t know if the original string was “123E567” or “123E0567” or even “1.23E569”.
Caitlin -- I built up a little hacked example for myself.
Where/how are you exporting underlying data as text in 9? Everything I do (9.0, 9.3, 10.0) wants to do a CSV file. (And the resulting CSV from any version behaves as you describe.)
