If we use trusted authentication, what is the preferred way to keep the tableau session alive? to keep extending the tableau session when the user is interacting with the UI web app that embeds tableau view.
As long as the user continues to interact with the viz, then the session will be kept alive. And there are a couple timeouts to be aware:
1. vizqlserver.session.expiry.timeout - defaults to 30 minutes. We upped this setting to 60, but in order to do this, you need to have sufficient memory
2. wgserver.session.idle_limit - defaults to 240 minutes. We left this one alone
Thanks, and I'm aware of these timeout settings. I guess my question is if the user only interacts with my custom UI web application and does not continue to interact with the embedded viz for the duration of this wgserver.session.idle_limit(for 240 mins or if we lower it to 60 mins), what would be the preferred way to keep extending the tableau user session even though the user is not actively interacting with the viz? Can we ping Tableau server periodically to get a new trusted token or an alternate way?
