Are you suggesting that you would create a parameter like 'Table Number' which the user would use to control the table being sourced from? If so, you could use an approach like;
WHERE [parametertablenumber] = 1
WHERE [parametertablenumber] = 2

I realised there were still lag issues, but mainly from one table that contains a few billion rows. A simple bar chart with just 3 marks is taking several minutes to load when I chose that tablea in the parameter filter.
With your expertise, can this issue only be resolved at the datasource level?
A simple bar chart on a billion rows is always going to take a long time to load. I'd suggest you need to find a way to pre-aggregate or partition your data so your tablesets aren't so large.
