Which is better? Union tables from same data source into one or keeping separate when using a filter

I am encountering this scenario where I have 3 different tables of the same fields, each with a few million rows.

I need to make a filter in the dashboard such that the user can select data from which table (table 1, table 2, or table 3).

The simplest solution is to union those tables together, but that might cause performance issues loading such a big combined dataset.

The alternative is that select each filter can allow each table to be accessed directly. However, can that be done in Tableau?

Each table is applied to be the same viz in the same worksheet.

All the tables reside from the same source database.
