How do I make Tableau ignore color when ranking a dimension by a measure?

    John Burton

I'm creating a bump chart with each element in a dimension ranked by a measure for each year.  I have a parameter with a list of the elements that I want to use to color the selected element differently than the other elements.  The problem is that for any element I choose Tableau ranks it separately so that it always appears at the top of the ranking.  What I want is for the element to show in its original place in the thicket of lines.  Is there a way to get Tableau to ignore the colour when ranking?

In the pic below the orange line at the top is the selected element.  Any element I select results in the same line at the top.

Thanks for any help you can give!
