# Hot to color an entire row with a formula

Hi to everyone,

i'm using an easy pivot table built on tableau, follow an example:

i would like to color an entire row in red when costant trend is lower than 0% or green in other cases: i used a formula to determinate if a value is positive or negative but this method allow only to change the color of Y.2015 because formula is based on a trend calculated on y.2015 (Follow formula of "Costant Trend Red/Green")

if [Costant Trend (Correct)]  >=0 then "Positive"

ELSE "Negative"

END

Can anybody help me to resolve my problem ?

Thanks !

Hi Enrico, can you share a packaged workbook so we can see the calculations? The second column probably isn't green as you expected because the value of [Costant Trend (Correct)] in y.2014 isn't greater than 0, but it's hard to fix the issue without seeing the calculations.

HI David,

here my tableau file: i can't color y.2014 column because trend formula is based on y.2015, so my "Costant trend Red/Green" formula can only work on y.2015, but i need to find a solution to colour all sheet !

i don't have any idea to do how!

Hi Enrico,

You can click on the constant red green field in the Marks pane, and choose show Highlighter - this will create a highlight filter available for the user. This is the closest that I know to get the effect you are looking for.

Hi Enrico

Someone will hopefully prove me wrong, but this is one of those things that should be easier and isn't.

If you have to display in that way, i would follow this blog

Basically you create blank cells and drop items into them, its an effort to set up, but gives the greatest control.

This is only if you have to

Cheers

Mark
