Does adding the dimensions you want to display to the tooltip not do what you want to do?
If you drag the relevant dimensions onto the tooltip mark, you'll then get them appear when you hover over parts of the map.
[added]Here's a Tableau Public workbook where I've used the tooltip to show infomration when hovering over an area Tableau Public [/added]
Thank you Adrian for prompt feedback
Yes, I have dragged the relevant dimensions onto the tooltip mark but nothing appear to me. So, could you please explain this more , I think I have missed some steps.By theway , I am using JPG image.
Sorry, I forgot to tell you something : I made right click on the mouse and I chose (Annotate > point) then I have written the information that I want to appear on each location... Thankx
Oh, if you're using annotations, I've no idea as I haven't used them.
If you want information about the map polygons to popup when you hover over, then use the tooltips, I've used them in the link I supplied so have a look at that to see how.
If you're adding points to the map that you want to have popup information on, I'd think you'd want to add them as another data source with lng/lats that you can again add tooltips too, rather than using annotations?
Thank you Adrian,
In fact, this is a first time for me with Tableau, I have never used this program but I'm interested in ....
I have followed this steps when I added the image :
1) First, I've added excel sheet includes ( x and Y) of the image that I inserted from (map>background image).
2) Next, I've added new data source which includes (country, lng and lats...)
3) Then I made a relationship between two data source but did not link them..
Moreover, I have looked at the link you sent me and I want to make the something. So, I appreciated if you could provide me with clear steps to be able to design this map.
I don't have time to write out instructions, especially as it's still not clear what you're doing, if you attach a packaged workbook I'll try and have a quick look.
Simply, I want offline mape and the user will see our project locations we verified represented on the map by the circle shaped icons, and once the user points with the mouse at a circle the information revealed will show for instance:
Thank you for sending me the link, I found the explanation is complicated and I think it's for advanced users, but it is very useful.
I think what I need is very simple:
I need to add JPG image "map" to the Tableau workbook then I want to add Tooltip to this image to describe the project locations?
