Not sure of a workaround to do what you are looking for but even if it was possible I wouldn't recommend since it would break when the list exceeded the length of the view.
Attached is an example of providing the same information in a way that works well in Tableau and scales. Build a separate sheet with customer info then use an action filter to restrict the customer info displayed. In this case I have set the customer sheet to only populate once a state has been selected. Here is a link on Action filters.

This is a pretty great idea (both functionality and for ux)! Could I just ask: is there anything specific you had to do so that when you use the action filter, the second sheet is automatically sized to take up half the dashboard? Thanks for your help!
To anyone who can't get this to work using Kent Sloan's solution, make sure that the sheets are in a layout container. If that still isn't working, just try deleting the sheets and adding them again. That's what ended up working for me after a few times.
