Do you want to create a calculated field for a table
or just add a reference line to a chart.
Could you please attach some screen shots to further explain your requirement.

As sensitive data is involved, not in position to share sample workbook.
But here is an example,
for a Metric- say attendance, i have added a reference line at 80%.
I have to add the same reference line in dashboards wherever i'm using the same metric- attendance.
(I have to add reference lines for other Metrics as well in multiple dashboards.)
So rather than adding reference line for each of the dashboards , i'm looking for an easier way to fix a target line for a single metric.
so that i don't have to repeat the action in other dashboards for the same metric.

The best way to go about this would be to create a parameter with the reference line value you require for each metric.
You can now use the parameter as a reference line.
Changing the value of the parameter will change the reference line on all worksheets that it is displayed on.
Is this what you are trying to achieve or am i understanding incorrectly
