Problem with calculations

Good morning.

I have a lot of values in my dimension and I need make calculations with that and add at the same dimension with my old values.

Thats possible?

Thank you.

Best regards.

Natalia, I think the answer to your question would be to create a new calculated field called 'Dimension Copy'.  Inside of the calculated field, simply place your old dimension in there.  Now, make the complex calculations that you have for the old dimension, and then add the copy at the end--which was still storing the old dimension before the calculations.

I have this table and now I need add "lucratividade" between "receita bruta" and "receita liquida". The calculation is "SUM(lucro)/SUM(vendas)".

• 4. Re: Problem with calculations

The best option in ur case is to move the calculation at the data level.

Why because even if u pulled and report the accurate number for "lucratividade", you want to put it in that tabular view in-line with other items. Right....?

I don't know if I understand. You said I should do that on ETL (Extract, Transform and Load)? Before Tableau?

I need to do exactly what you wrote. My final result should be:

• 6. Re: Problem with calculations

That is correct. ETL is the best way of doing it.

Because you want to add a row to the underlying Dimensao.

Calculations in Tableau will behave as new columns...

Thank you very much.

If you discover another way to do that on Tableau please tell me.

Regards.

FYI, based on your requirements i've created this idea.

Feel free to vote / add stuff.

I'll come up with a scenario to better explain this idea.
