There is a way to set parameter values using URL dashboard actions, will your workbook be published to tableau server?
If it will be published to tableau server, this article describes how to change the value of a parameter using URL actions:
In your case each of your buttons would need to be separate worksheets, each containing a separate calculated text field with the items from your parameter such as 'Segment', 'Region' etc.
Then from each of those button worksheets in the dashboard, you'd have a URL action pointing back to the original dashboard but setting the parameter to the value of the calculated field in the button worksheet as described in the link above.
Hope that helps
Thanks for the time and effort to help. If I go for URL actions it creates the internet dependencies on the users who views the report. If the viewer's computers not connected to internet, the corresponding report shows error " 404 - Page not found".
This is why I asked whether it'll be published to a server because the method I mentioned relies on there being a URL (hosting the workbook) to connect to.
I'm not aware of an offline method to create buttons that change a parameter, you can filter data with dashboard filter actions but I'm not sure if there's a method to change a parameter value.
Sorry that wasn't the answer you were looking for.
Try to create them as buttons and try to use the option "Use as filter". this will work as your wish.

Hi, I have made what you want. This was done by creating a container with three sheets in it--region, segment, and category. Then on top I have 3 floating containers that on click show the sheet that you want.

You have produced the exact solution. Only one additional thing I did was I placed three reports on top of each other and shown only the selection(Ex. Region,Category) and excluded values.
Hey Akram...why have I never thought of that before!? Your idea of placing the three reports on top of each other as floating will get rid of that extra white space that occurs when placing multiple conditional sheets inside of one container. Thanks!

Hi Akram, can you tell me steps what you or Corey implemented in your Tableau workbook file? I'm getting Connection error when I downloaded and opened the workbook that you guys have uploaded here. Else can you tell me how to fix this Connection error issue. I have the l;atest Tableau 2018.1.3 and whn I try to connect to the Superstore excel file, it still shows errors. Thanks in advance!
