The easiest way to do this would be to provide them with different URL's to access
You are able to pass paremeter / filter values in a url so if you provide each one with a different url they will access the same report with different filters selected
If you have it published to the server, user can set up all the filters as required and click "remember my changes" in the top left of the screen.
Afterwards he/she can open their custom view with default filters
Another possibility is to have the same sheet duplicated and placing them on the same dashboard.
On each worksheet you can select a different default
you will need to add an additional username filter to make one of the 2 sheets visible depending on the user.
Let me know if you need help or direction in implementing this method
Hi, I have a senario below.
I have a dashboard fo rwhich I have given user security and it works perfectly. Now suppose there are two ppl lets say person1 and person2. For person1 I have given access to all the region and for person2 I have given access to only 1 region. In the dashboard there is a filter called Region. When person1 login to the dasboard all the region are selected in the filter and are visible to person1. Now when person2 login he will see the region specific to which he has access and it is selected.
Now what I want is, if person1 login it should be defaulted to only one region and selected, reset of the region should be unselected. But when person2 login since he has access to only one region that region should be selected in the filter as default. Can this be done in tableau?
The method that will best work for your case is the one mentioned above. to have 2 duplicate sheets
one for users who can only see one region where all can be selected on the filter and the report will only show the required region.
the other sheet for users who can see multiple regions select the single region on this sheet which can be changed by user if required.
