To count the # of accidents based on date, need to create a calculated field like below:
1. If attr(Type) = 'Accident' then count(Type) end
Then drag the date field column on to the column shelf and drag the calculation created as above onto the row shelf so it will show the number of accidents on a daily basis.
Hope this helps.
Try following changes to the screen shot you gave:
keep date in column as it is.
pull count(Type) to rows shelf instead of the calculated column.
and pull 'type' to filters and select only 'accident'
Hi Louisa Kho
IF Type = Accident THEN 1 ELSE 0 END.
1) Drag the type to filter shelf.
2) From the list of value choose only accident
3) Columns: Date, Rows: # of Records
Let me know if any of these solutions resolved your issue.

Sorry for the late reply, drag the Type field onto rows and right click on it and select measure and select count and drag the Date onto the columns as you did.
drag the Type field onto the filter shelf and select only accident from the list and un-select remaining.
Please tell me what you are getting the result.
Thank you! It worked.
