once we install tableau, while performing the installation, Tableau will configure a folder known as ” My Tableau Repository” in the documents directory which contains total 10 different folders.
note:- Here ” local data & styles” folders area now from tableau 8.2 onwords
note: In Tableau the complete vizsql log will get store in to logs folder of the Tableau Repository.
note: In Tableau we develop any visualization, all the visualization will store in the form of workbooks in the workbook folder of the Tableau Repository.
Unfortunately within the Tableau folder many things seem to have been deleted.
Please see my screen shots below in another response.
I do have this directory, but I do not see any remnants of my old installation.
For example, I do not see any old Datasource's that I was previously using.
Also, within My Tableau Repository I do not see an executable to start the application, which is what I'm trying to do at the moment.
I was able to fix this issue by going to control panel -> programs and repairing my Tableau installation.
However, upon opening the application it yet again asks me if I would like to upgrade so I feel that the same issue will happen again.

I assume your an administrator on your machine?
Assuming so, I would download it manually, from here Alternate Downloads Site | Tableau Software
Save it to the desktop, and double click, follow the on screen instructions. I have just installed Reader, Desktop & Server that way...
Be aware, the last install you do, will become the 'default', so if you have both Desktop and Reader, upgrade reader then desktop (assuming you want desktop as the default for twbx files)
If you have any more problems, write back, and we'll try and help, otherwise contact firstname.lastname@example.org
I know you mentioned you have 64 bit operating system
As a FYI
- 32 bit install to Program Files (x86) folder
- 64 bit install to Program Files folder
Although I use 64 bit, I have some legacy items in the 32 bit location
Installed on my 64bit Win7 PC
I have Reader 9.3.5
Desktop 9.2.10 and 9.3.5 (I keep both 9.2 and 9.3 for helping on the forum)
Server is installed on a remote server, not my desktop, although it used to be!
When I upgrade I would do 9.2 first, then Reader, then Desktop 9.3, as i want 9.3 to be my default.
