Google Analytics Next Page Analysis - how to get the right data?

    Philipp Güth

      Hi,

when extracting the "next page" dimension via the Google Analytics API the data is not correct - it just contains the same page as the "page" dimension.

What I am trying to create is a view of how many users came from which site and where they went after. Essentially the same information you can obtain by navigating

Behavior -> Site Content -> All Pages -> Navigation Summary

      within Google Analytics.

Any ideas on how this can be done?

Many thanks in advance, your help is much appreciated,

      Philipp

There is no such thing as next page, because you are pulling information for a page and it does not know what the future is.

          Work around:

          1. Use "Previous Page Path" then either use "page" or "next page path" these are exactly the same as you have found out.
          2. Then it is a matter of getting your head around the idea that "Previous Page Path" is your 1st page and use the next Page dimension to work out what page was then visited.

          Hope that helps.

I am doing exactly the same thing as you at the moment, would be great to see what dash you come up with.
