Have you ever found a resolution for this?
We experience the same situation.
Our experience is:
Tableau Server 10.0 in AWS Cloud (Not as a service) is slow to sync AD and Refresh Extracts, as well as Refresh Workbook
The same Tableau Server version internally is much faster for all 3.
We therefore are looking at network latency issues.
However, We deployed version 10.1.1 and now refreshing workbook in the AWS cloud is significantly faster.
Extracts and AD sync still an issue.
It made us think that perhaps network latency is an issue, but perhaps there is something in the Tableau deployment that's not compatible with AWS Cloud in term of performance..
Would appreciate if you have an insight to share? or anyone else?
it was port 636 for SSL AD that we had to open instead the 389 for normal AD. That solved the problem.
