External Data Blending - what are standard practices and resources?

    Stephen Jay

I'm currently working with large datasets from different db sources, including scattered excel dictionary files. I'm currently using tableau to blend the data, but the performance is quite bad because tableau won't let you extract data after you joined different datasources.

Can anyone recommend a standard practice to join data from different DB sources+spreadsheets and to locally store them in one location? I was thinking of doing all the joins through python and storing them in one giant spreadsheet, which I can then feed into Tableau, but that seems hacky. I'd like to learn more about how data scientists typically handle this kind of infrastructure- any recommended resources would be appreciated.

      Thanks
