Export CSV for a shared filtered view

    John Doe

Say, I am working with this public visualization

      http://public.tableau.com/profile/ellenn#!/vizhome/WorldIndicators/GDPpercapita .

I want to filter data by the region (Europe only) and year (2000 and 2001 only), so I click corresponding checkboxes and open the "Share" popup, which offers me the following link:

which (I assume) contains my filter data encoded in KBCW4J7N6, it redirects me to

which works fine - it shows data for Europe 2000 and 2001 only. So far so good. Now I want to export that filtered data as CSV, so I add the CSV extension to the URL I was redirected to, but it returns 404:

What is the right way to export filtered data in this particular case?

      Thanks a lot!

Yes, I have read the URL parameters guide : http://kb.tableau.com/articles/knowledgebase/view-filters-url

Yes, I have read the CSV export article:  https://public.tableau.com/s/blog/2014/04/exporting-csv-made-simple

Still, I cannot apply what I have read to this particular case.

I think the original poster just needs to repost their viz.  I notice this with older workbooks on Public as well but newer ones seem to work fine.  The workbook can be downloaded in this case, so just download the workbook and extract it locally in Tableau.

In general, I need a reliable way to get CSV data from any viz on any server (T public or T Server). I got stuck at getting filtered CSV data from this particular viz, so I thought it would be a good example to use in my request for help.

Downloading the workbook would help with figuring out the internal structure of a particular viz, but this is not my intent. Think of it from the system integration perspective: imagine you are building a hub that automatically pulls CSV data from specified Tableau URLs. I asked a similar question here, just in case: CSV export and data filters .

            Thank you!
