And I should probably clarify that I know the Excel data isn't Tableau-friendly. I need to explain to students why, after turning on Data Interpreter, to "fix" the data, Total Sale Amount disappears or is reconfigured. Does Tableau just not like any total amounts it has not calculated itself?

I think Tableau is "fixing it" by ignoring everything above what it considers the headers. Since the headers are below the totals it's ignoring the totals. It seems like it's assuming that everything above Row 4 is just a header for the document and trying to clean it up.
I wonder if you removed the "percent of total sale" row between the totals and the rest of the data if it would still keep causing the issue?
I moved the data around, and it seems Tableau is picking it up now. Thanks!
