Afternoon, so relatively new to tableau and having problems creating bandings based on the sum total of units that have been purchased.
basically you have Buyer ID in one column and 1's in another column going down in a list for every unit they have bought (due to information about the unit also being stored also, but i don't need that for this).
So what i need to do is sum up all the 1's by the buyer ID to find the total number of units each buyer have purchased, and then say count all the buyers that have bought 1-3 units and put the count of buyers into the banding 1-3, or if they have bought 4-10 units put them in the 4-10 banding etc.
Any advice?
Thanks in advance!
Hi Nathan,
You may want to look at Bins first:
http://onlinehelp.tableau.com/current/pro/online/mac/en-us/help.htm#calculations_bins.html
If automatic Bins don't meet your needs,
you may want to create custom bins
using Row-level calculation(s) like this:
IF [Quantity] <= 3 THEN '1-3'
ELSEIF [Quantity] <= 10 THEN '4-10'
....
ELSE '> 1000'
END
Hope thiis could help.
Yours
Yuri
