Muhammad Khan Jun 23, 2016 10:56 AM (in response to khalid norat)Hi Khalid
i am so sorry for the inconvenience
1st one is Employees by their own (your can create this)
2nd one will goes to Available as well as to Employed
3rd one will be only goes to available
4th one will have no effect. because if not released then i dont have to deal with it.
So in this case I will have the following information
Employed = 2
Available = 2
Remaining = 0 (Because total released are 2 and employed are also 2
Got Their own (additional) = 1 because in 1st line candidate is not released but employed.you can also exclude this from overall calculation but it will effect the results of Remaining. I mean if we exclude it then Remaining will be 1
Thanks

khalid norat Jun 23, 2016 11:02 AM (in response to Muhammad Khan)you said employed = 2 and available = 2 but you are counting only 3 and end up with a total of 4
Basically the bottom line is if you want to double count people you will be unable to create a pie chart counting the number of people but the total will not match.
Now if you want to do a pie chart on 2 employed 1 remaining this is possible
or if you want a pie chart on 2 employed 2 remaining this can be achieved but not as simple as above option

32. Re: Pie Chart with two Measures
Muhammad Khan Jun 23, 2016 11:11 AM (in response to khalid norat)Yes I am counting employed =2 and available = 2 because i only deals with yes. I am very new to Tableau if you have a better solution in this case then I will be happy to adopt it.
Thanks

Thanks

khalid norat Jun 24, 2016 3:46 AM (in response to Muhammad Khan)Hi Muhammad,
I'm still not sure you understand what I am saying. Please have a look at the excel sheet attached.
I have given example of 20 people
5 people released + employed
5 people released + Not Employed
5 people not released + Employed
5 people not released + Not Employed
Total people = 20
Released = 10
Hired = 10
Remain according to your calculation released hired = 1010 = 0
This is incorrect
If you look at the data you have 5 people that are released and not hired.
I am trying to make you understand you have 4 distinct categories in your data
If you choose to ignore anyone that is not released and not employed you only have 3 categories
Remaining available for employment 5 people
Hired + Released 5 people
Hired + Not Released 5 people
the 2 lower categories can be joined to give
Remaining = 5
Hired = 10
The calculations we write in tableau will come after this.
It is more important to understand the data.
Once we are on the same page we can easily write the correct formulas.
If you feel my interpretation of the data is incorrect or I have misunderstood please try to explain what you are looking for using the 20 person dataset I have attached
If you agree that my explanation and interpretation is correct then I already had the correct calculations 2 days ago when we couldn't agree on the numbers matching.
Keep me posted with your thoughts

Muhammad Khan Jun 24, 2016 5:19 AM (in response to khalid norat)Hello Khalid
I am 100 % agree with your calculation but in this case i will have to filter the Employed ones in two categories because it comes from two categories i.e. 5 are those who came from released and 5 are those who came from not released. You know the data better then me now suggest any calculation which can keep track on the following
Net Hired
Hired but not released
Net Remaining
For your understanding released are those who are fully registered with us and allowed to search through our website.

khalid norat Jun 24, 2016 8:12 AM (in response to Muhammad Khan)Sorry for the delay on this.
Please see workbook attached
Calculated field  Hired/Released
also please notice parameter Hired with Values overall and breakdown to help you see the breakdown of the hired released or hired not released when required.
Hope this satisfies your requirement
