Create table relationship from calculated field (Data Cleansing)

I have two csv files where I am analysing sports player stats. Currently linking by player name.

      Issue occurs when:

      1.  Players from different teams have the same name.

      2. Players names are spelt or formatted differently.

Ideally I would like to create unique identifiers for each player instance through a calculated field.

Is it possible to do this in Tableau? And then link (create table relationship) from calculated fields? Or is this a limitation of Tableau?

So far I've only found it possible to do in Excel before bring into Tableau which is not Ideal if extracts need to be refreshed regularly.
