On the dashboard drag the webpage and the sheet that the action filter is to be used, then go to Dashboard->Actions
then click add action -> url, then use the select and make sure your sheet is selected, and type the desired url in the bar below, click ok and that should work,
however this will work on any part of the sheet being clicked.
hope this helps
Unfortunately it doesn't work to hide the web page object when the sheet is selected. I've attached an example file to show you how I followed your instructions.
Is there any way to hide the web page object until the sheet2 data is selected?
No good way to do this - Vizzes "hide" themselves if there is no data to display, but Web Pages don't. Have you considered simply making 2 copies of the dashboard (one with, one without the web object) and using actions to nav between one or the other?
You could 'hide' it off screen like Robert Rouse does with his collapsing container:
I used this technique to great effect for a mobile app I did last month. It's a little tricky to set up and work with at first, but once you get the hang of it, it works great.
Attached is a 9.0 example where different things pop out depending on what value you select.
This is the principle Fiona wants to use. My example is just popping out text boxes. But any object -- including a web page -- can be in that container.
By the way, poking around in other dashboards in that workbook, I see I'm doing a similar thing on Dashboards 2 and 4.
Genius! I love this article, but it never occurred to me to use if for a Web Page - only for filters! Great idea.
Thanks Shawn. We tried a few different ways, but it didn't seem to work properly so we have continued using the db as is. Appreciate your response though, the example is beautiful
Fiona, is you could mock up a workbook you can share, I think I can help you getting it to work. Remember the 'Pop-out' is a fixed width (or height if you're popping up/down) and the 'blank' is 'fit entire', otherwise it won't work.
thanks for the lovely offer, we had to lock the dashboard down due to pre-release testing, and we are currently developing all of the training. It's not ideal, but it still works ..
Appreciate your support
