Hmmm...I have a script I run after an install to update tabadmin set settings, copy files, etc. followed by tabadmin config and tabadmin start. Starting the server is going very slowly This process should've been done in a couple minutes since my QA Server doesn't have much on it but the restart is over 10 minutes now, with no activity between whatever processes it does. I don't like this behavior It did finally start and so far everything is acting normal. I've never seen this behavior before.
thanks for the heads up, we have it on our to-do list and any pointers or gotchas are much appreciated!
Thanks for the info Toby!
No worries about missing the first screenshot that message will be in your tabadmin.log file assuming a standard install it'll be in the following location:
Search for verification result and it'll be your last one.
Last "Verification result" was 09Feb2016...when I upgraded to 9.2.4! There's nothing for 9.3.1 I did a search for "verification result" in all logs and that is the earliest date I found (there were later dates, back to 26Jan2015).
Below is a screen shot of my test box of what you are looking for:
Since my test box is under powered it gives me the "you don't meet the recommended requirements". If you meet the recommended requirements you should have:
Verification result: PASSED
This system meets or exceeds the recommended requirements
You should have something like the above. Was there anything written to that file?
Here's what I got running a search (I'm using Agent Ransack) (pay attention to the date):
I searched for "validate" and got this (your output uses that term in the 3rd line of your screen shot):
Next, I opened a cmd window (in Admin. mode):
Opening the help displayed this wealth of information (not):
So I went to the folder and found what appeared to be the latest file:
I would look at the logs and not search for "verification results" just in case the output changes to something different. I would assume it doesn't but hey you never know.
For the second part, if it isn't broken don't worry about it.
Message "Database schema is different from the expected schema" When Restoring Backup | Tableau Software http://kb.tableau.com/articles/issue/message-database-schema-is-different-from-the-expected-schema
Looking for something I'm not sure what to look for is tedious in that highly repetitive log I'm going to open a ticket w/Support as I also have an issue with testing data source connections.
I'm checking published data source connections by using the Edit Connection... and Test Connection. For Microsoft SQL Server and IBM DB2 connections without a password I'm just getting a "Could not connect to server", I'm not being asked for a password. Is that normal? I would think I would be asked (challenged) for a password
On some of the connections I click the Test Connection button but nothing happens! The button depresses, just like a normal click, but nothing happens! This is happening to MSSQL, DB2, and Oracle data sources.
Extracts or Live data sources doesn't appear to make a difference. Ideas?
