# Half-Circle Pie Chart (Semi-Circle)

Evening,

I have a challenging question I am trying to find the answer to. I am attempting to develop a Half-circle pie chart. Basically, a semi-circle if you well rather than the full circle.

Similar to this image here - http://i.stack.imgur.com/EV7US.png

I know can do these with relative ease in excel, except I can't figure out a way to do them in Tableau.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I've attached my workbook below:

Hi Bill W,

This is actually not possible in Tableau; the closer you could get is creating a donut chart.

I'm sure we could do the magic by using table calculation... but this is way out of the ordinary.

Hi Bill,

There are few dashboard which I have seen on the tableau public which has charts very similar to this one. I will share the link and screenshots for the same. (struggling with internet right now)

Manideep Bhattacharyya, Mahfooj Khan, any idea how to do it?

Thanks and Regards,

This is a brilliant Example. Thanks - Manideep

You can refer this link also.

• ###### 6. Re: Half-Circle Pie Chart (Semi-Circle)

Thanks Ashish,

That is extremely helpful. However, how can I fill in the points so its a solid arch? Additionally, Mahfooj, I've seen that one, but that's based on a parameter control and follows a similar methodology as Ashish.

Hi Bill,

Encountered a same question today and here is my approach.

I know its too late for you though

You can create a donut chart including the totals value , change the legend color for total and make it white , and adjusting the legends so that total comes in the lower semicircle.

Attached image describes the steps.

Thanks

PS : Do let me know of any other way that you would have figured out.

Afternoon Rahul,

Great idea!

In my case I would probably have to make a another calculations for the totals and graph it out that way.

Hi,

Could you please let me know how to get total along with the measure value to achieve half donut?
