Did you try removing 10,000 and typing any other numbers? Tableau will show lets say 15000 rows if you type 15000.
Other way to check is create a worksheet without filters and use number of records.
"Number of Records" on the shelf is a way to go if you only need to get the number of rows.
SELECT COUNT(*) is waaaay more efficient than SELECT * query.
View Data dialog has same limitations as data grid on Data Source tab - it only shows 10,000 rows by default and need to load and display all the values.

Once the data table is added, please proceed to the any of the sheet. Put the number of records in the "Text Shelf". Then right click on the same click on view data.
Once you click on the "View Data" you will get the below window.
Once you click on the "Underlying data" you get to see the actual count of the Number of Records.
