Null is the absence of expected data.
By dragging DEP Country and DEST Country to your rows shelf and the Time taken to columns we have queried our database for these fields.
When we find a blank in the database we do not just return a blank. As we were expecting to find a valid data point. Hence the NULL which is the absence of expected data. There are two ways you can fix this. You can fix the holes in your underlying data table or use null handling in Tableau.
To do the latter, create a calculated field like below
IFNULL([DEP Country], 'xyz')
Where 'xyz' is whatever you would rather see instead of a null, if you want to have a blank then insert a single blank if you want Other then Type 'Other'.
thank you. your answer have solved my other issues as well.
I have gone ahead and marked the first response correct. In the future, it really helps if you could mark the answer that was most correct as "Correct" and then mark Hepful answers as "This Helped Me" - Yes.
This will help others find the solution when searching.
