Thanks for this, but I only want the axis reversed when particular filters are applied. This would reverse the axis for all selections.

There's no way to check the reversed axis option based on a filter. I can think of two approaches that might solve your problem.
1) Make a worksheet for each of your different metrics, with the axis reversed as needed. Then, users could cycle through those sheets on a dashboard with a parameter, instead of a filter. This KB article explains the parameter sheet selector process
2). Use a calculated field to multiple your values by -1 for the measures you want to reverse. If you did this, you'd have to hide the axis entirely, but could still label the points with the original, non-negative values.
when 'Technology' then [Profit]
when 'Office Supplies' then [Profit]
when 'Furniture' then -1*[Profit]
Could you make the values for the 'reversed' measures negative?...and then let the user select from the 'amendmended' versions of the calculations.
...just a thought!
a possible other option, would be to set up a parameter to select the desired measure, and then use a sheet swap, to swap in a reversed axis sheet when those 2 were selected.
Let me know if either of these ideas fly! and if so, if you would like a bit more detail on how.
Thanks for all of your help. I managed to get this to work by doing something similar to what Andrew suggested. I used a calculated field, however, rather than a parameter.
