Does your data source have a load seq num or date field? This would indicated when a new upload occurred then you can use that field to identify changes.
I do have update-day field that captures the load seq num. Although I am not clear how to get to the difference.
For instance, how to just highlight and display records that do not exist in old update-day? Will outer join do the trick?
Is there EXIST or NOT EXIST kind of functionality available in Tableau similar to Teradata SQL?

You might want to check out the Conditional Subscriptions feature that is now in beta. You can use this to author a view that shows only new data (filtered to previous day, for example) and sends an email when there is data in the view.
You'll find a new option in the subscriptions dialog for 10.1: "Send only when data is present."
