I can't think of how you'd do that given the donut requires you to use both axes. A better alternative would be a bullet graph. You will save space and it'll be much easier to understand.

I'm with Andy re: the bullet graph or some variation on that. I can
conceive of some ideas involving manipulating the data source or custom
polygons (which also require manipulating the data source) but they would
be a ton of work whereas a bullet graph is drag and drop.
