# Count number of records in two different date fields then sum amount

I am looking to count the number of rows by month/year in two different date fields. For example, in Date A there are 6 rows for January 2016 and in Date B there are 4 rows for January. Then I want to sum the both to make 10 rows for January 2016. The issue I am running into is that if I use Date A or Date B as my reference point, the numbers won't be accurate.

I'm thinking something like this might work...

If (Date A) then sum(number of records) end

To be sure of what the issue:

you are looking for a filter that will sum Date A and Date B, January 2016 in order to create only one column with these entries. Right?

I've attached the workbook to gain some time for the other member of the community who might know the answer.

Hi Alexis,

maybe something like this:

IF ISNULL([Date A])= FALSE THEN 1 ELSE 0 END

+ IF ISNULL([Date B])= FALSE THEN 1 ELSE 0 END
