James wants to have a dynamic height for dashboard.
Dynamic Hight for worksheet inside dashboard: you can use nested containers and get it done.
Dynamic Hight for dashboard: I don't think we can do this in tableau yet.
We either have automatic, which scales according to screen or we have different fixed dimensions option.
See, this is why I ask questions; I really am this dense.
Shawn Wallwork - I am a slow learner . Yes, I know that Tableau has containers and I use containers, I use nested containers, I've struggled with moving one tiny container into another tiny container. I've wanted to put my fist through my monitor a few times when I move an object out of one container and somehow that makes some other objects move out of other containers. (I've noticed this particularly with vertical containers and repositioning object within them.) My recent strategy is to format the color of a container when I place it, that helps me make sure that the thing I thought I put in it is actually in it and stays in it.
But I digress.
I just never noticed that vertical containers dynamically resize the workbook contained therein. Like, somehow, that distinction completely escaped me. And I'm not too proud to say it.
Perhaps I will figure out LOD calculations next...
I tested out my newfound knowledge on a nice clean workbook and things worked swimmingly. Then I tried it on my production workbook and failed miserably. I pressed forward and discovered something that I have never seen before.
Reset Size. Where have you been all my life?
And Fixed Height? And Edit Height...?
Things are really heating up!
In order to this work, you need to uncheck the Fixed Height option.
It works the same way in horizontal containers too.
