Yes, there are multiple way to get YoY comparison from string year/month data.
But the approach can be differed based on your real data set.
Could you share your packaged workbook(***.twbx) for us to investigate?

Easiest way. without creating calculated field.
Thanks a lot.
For MTD data it works well. But if I want to show YTD? (Taking Jan + Feb + Mar, in my case)?
Also, I need to have the data in % of growth.
Nice, I got it.
I can do a Running Total calculation (at month) and do a secondary calculation as Percentage difference from (at year)
Thanks for showing the way!
However I would like to go a bit further.
1) I built a small Table with the month and the YTD growth. Now if I select the month "3" of 2016 (set as filter), I'd like to get the MTD growth.
So far, if I select year 2016 or 1 month, the table is blank (I need to select "3" of 2015 and 2016).
How can I make it more simple for user to interact with my dashboard?
2) And how can show a single value of YTD growth based on the last month available in the table as default?
Just to show: Month 3 = xx%
Thank you !
This works well for MTD % growth.
But it is not YTD (Year to Date).
Based on the data sample, we should get -74.6% March YTD performance.
Any idea on how to do it for YTD data? (I suppose we "just" need to modify the parameter to include 2016.1 + 2 + 3 ?)
